Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Ashok Singhal devoted his entire life to Hindutva, the nation and social service. The Minister was addressing the centenary year celebrations to commemorate his birth anniversary in New Delhi. He praised Singhal’s simplicity, patriotism, spirit of struggle, devotion to Dharma and commitment to the Swayamsevak ideal. Mr Shah said that the former VHP President had immense respect for Hindu Dharma, the Vedas, the Upanishads, Sanskrit, Indian culture and the tradition of saints. The Minister said that Ram Janmabhoomi movement was deeply embedded in his heart and mind and devoted his entire life to the movement. He said that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the institution of saints, the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, its construction and the Sangh were among the subjects closest to his heart. He also expressed confidence that Singhal’s life is a source of inspiration for many young people and adolescents. Mr Shah added that Ashok Singhal followed the principles of a volunteer, Swayamsevak and pracharak with dedication throughout his life.
