In Jammu and Kashmir, the traditional holy Mace (Charri Mubarak) was ceremoniously taken out from the historic Dashnami Akhada at Maisuma in Srinagar today on the occasion of Ashad Purnima (Guru Purnima). The ceremony marks the beginning of its annual journey to the holy Shri Amarnath Ji Cave Shrine.
The holy Mace was taken out under the leadership of its Custodian Mahant Deependra Giri and will follow the traditional route through Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni before reaching the holy cave shrine on the occasion of Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).
Special prayers will be held on the occasion of Shravan Purnima marking the culmination of the annual Yatra.
