The second edition of the Amaravati Championship will begin across Andhra Pradesh from July 15. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A. Ravi Naidu unveiled the official poster of the championship in Vijayawada today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravi Naidu said the championship aims to identify and nurture sporting talent from every corner of the State. He said selections will be held in all 175 Assembly constituencies in the Under-17 and Under-23 categories, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent. He said district-level competitions will be conducted from August 1 to 15, followed by the State-level events from August 20 to 25. Winners will receive their awards on National Sports Day, August 29.
Mr. Ravi Naidu said competitions will be held in 12 sports disciplines with a total prize money of 94 lakh rupees. He said the target is to attract the participation of more than three lakh students from villages and urban areas alike. He added that the championship reflects the government’s commitment to promoting sports and transforming Andhra Pradesh into a leading sporting state.
