A fire at an orphanage near Algeria’s capital has killed 11 children and injured 19 others. Algeria’s Civil Protection agency said the fire broke out early today at the two-story childcare institution in Mohammedia, in the eastern suburbs of the capital Algiers. Rescue teams safely evacuated five children with reduced mobility, while several of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
