Akashvani Chennai turns 88 today. Maintaining dignified role of opinion maker

 
Akashvani Chennai is celebrating its 88th anniversary today. As a pioneer of Indian Broadcasting, AIR Chennai has been a champion in reaching millions of people across the State. AIR’s digital services through the NewsonAir Application, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp channels. Maintaining the dignified role of an opinion maker in motivating and sensitising people on important issues and also providing a platform to them to express their views, AIR Chennai is well known for popular programs that are interactive with the audience and know the pulse of the audience.
 
Since June 1938, AIR has been holding the fort of maintaining a sensible balance in putting forth lofty but sincere ideals and is always looking forward to creating a better society. AIR Chennai, which is on the shores of the beautiful Marina, is one of the landmarks in the city since its inception. Its rich archival collection dates back to its beginning.
Rajaji, the first Governor General of India, a freedom fighter and an intellect, was always eager to deliver messages and speeches on the radio. He was thrilled to inaugurate AIR Chennai.
When late Queen Elizabeth II made a series of visits to Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, she gave a farewell message before her ceremonial exit on 1/3/1961. She appreciated the hospitality offered to her and exhorted Young India to achieve greater heights.
