AIFF announces Indian Football League 2026-27 season to begin on October 16

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced that the Indian Football League (IFL) 2026-27 will begin on 16th of October. The Governing Council of the IFL met at the Football House in New Delhi yesterday. The meeting was attended by representatives from 10 of the 11 IFL clubs.

Governing Council and the AIFF deliberated on key decisions for the 2026-27 season including increased gametime for Indian players and a maximum of three foreign players in a team’s starting line-up. The broadcast performance of IFL 2025-26 was also reviewed as the last season recorded 17.56 million live television viewers.

AIFF Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan said that it was the first meeting ahead of the new season to discuss the roadmap and the proposed budgets.
