On World Food Day, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that food is life and is akin to the supreme divine. In a social media post, Mr Chouhan said that in Indian culture, food holds the status of divinity and emphasised that every grain of food is not only invaluable but also life-sustaining. He also urged people to cook only as much as is needed and take only as much as you can eat. The Minister further encouraged people to save food, save lives and called for a collective resolve to ensure that no one in our vicinity goes hungry.
World Food Day is observed annually on 16th of October to commemorate the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945. This year’s theme of World Food Day is Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.
