ACB arrests AAP leader Satyendra Jain along with five others in STP projects tender case

The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi Government has arrested former Delhi Minister and AAP leader Satyendar Kumar Jain, former CEO of Delhi Jal Board, Udit Prakash Rai and four other accused persons. Our correspondent reports that these arrests have been made in connection with alleged irregularities and criminal conspiracy in the tendering process relating to augmentation and upgradation of Sewage Treatment Plants of the Delhi Jal Board.

The case was registered against them on the complaint of Directorate of Vigilance. During course of investigation, it was revealed that the tendering process allegedly involved restrictive technical specifications and conditions favouring a particular technology provider thereby restricting competition and providing undue advantage to a selected private entity.

Investigation further revealed that private persons were allegedly in regular communication with certain public servants and intermediaries in order to manipulate the tender process. ACB said, it indicates an alleged nexus between private persons and public functionaries for influencing the tender conditions in favour of a particular technology provider. The investigation is examining the complete money trail and the alleged proceeds of crime.
