The 9th National Nutrition Month was inaugurated with great fanfare at the International Rudraksh Convention Center in Varanasi today. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp in the presence of Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur and other ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Annapurna Devi said that through the 9th National Nutrition Month, it’s a commitment to a well-nourished and empowered India. This campaign is linked to the health of every mother, the nutrition of every child, and the prosperity of every family. She said that pure and balanced nutrition is a strong foundation for a healthy and prosperous nation.
On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, nutrition for the poor, children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers has been prioritised since 2014. The Anganwadi centre system in Uttar Pradesh has also undergone significant changes. These centres are now becoming centres not just for nutrition distribution but for children’s health, nutrition, and early development. He said that the spirit of “Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility” must be transformed into a campaign of public participation.
The inaugural event in Varanasi featured a nutrition fair, a video presentation based on beneficiaries’ experiences, and a dialogue between the Union Minister and Anganwadi workers.
Additionally, the Chief Minister gathered feedback from Anganwadi workers from across the country on their work and sought suggestions on how to improve it. He along with Union Minister also inspected the stalls set up for the occasion.
