President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief at the loss of lives in a road accident in Lakhimpur Kheri of Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi announced ex gratia of 2 lakh rupees from Prime Minister National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given 50 thousand rupees.

At least nine people were killed in a road accident in Lakhimpur Kheri district this morning. A speeding truck collided head-on with a Magic vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Ten people, including two women, were travelling in the Magic vehicle. The accident took place near Adalispur village on the Pilibhit-Basti highway, 40 km from the district headquarters.
