As preparations intensify for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28, a total of 74 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have arrived in the state to strengthen security arrangements. According to police officials, personnel of the central forces began reaching different areas under the ADC from Sunday. The CAPF personnel will conduct joint patrolling with the state police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in various sensitive areas ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, the State Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, reviewed the security arrangements for the Village Committee elections through a video conference with the District Election Officers, who are also the District Magistrates, of all eight districts today.
A review meeting was also held at the conference hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office in Agartala. District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak and other officials were present at the meeting. The authorities are closely monitoring the security situation to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the Village Committee elections.
