The 31st South Zone Council meeting concluded in Mahabalipuram near Chennai under the chairmanship of the Home Minister, Amit Shah. The meeting gave an opportunity to the Chief Ministers and Senior Officials to engage among themselves to discuss shared priorities and issues concerning the progress, development and interests of the region.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Kerala Chief Minister Satheesan, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended the meeting. Lt Governor of Puducherry, Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Administrator of Lakshadweep and senior officials of various Ministries also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the participants during the meeting had stressed upon cooperative federalism across healthcare funding, infrastructure, environmental protection and regional security. While a host of issues were discussed in the closed-door meeting, the participants had expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting on their social media platforms.
