21 Lakh saplings to be planted in Indore under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, 21 Lakh saplings will be planted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, during the monsoon season. Large-scale plantation will be carried out at different locations across the district. Along with tree plantation, special focus will also be given to water conservation and groundwater recharge.

The Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan is also being carried out with active public participation. Saplings will be planted at Devguradia, Limbodi, the Agriculture College campus, the BSF campus, the Super Corridor and several other locations. The highest number of saplings will be planted at the BSF campus.

Schools, colleges, temples and other public places have also been included in the campaign. Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya appealed to people to plant at least one tree in honour of their mothers and take care of it. He said environmental protection and water conservation go hand in hand.

The Municipal Corporation has also appealed to people to install rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. Financial assistance will be provided for this and citizens and organisations doing outstanding work will also be honoured.
