Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth today said that nearly 17 thousand MSMEs are now connected with the defence sector. The Minister said this while talking to media after a joint interactive workshop on indigenisation themed SANKALP, jointly organized by the Air Force and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). SANKALP stands for self-reliance, atmanirbhar bharat, native development, and knowledge linked partnership.
On the occasion, the Minister also highlighted that the government’s only objective now is to make the entire defence sector indigenous and self-reliant. The Minister also underlined that the Air Force, SIDM, industry, and start-up communities have a strong resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047.
In the seminar, Mr Seth said that the aim of indigenisation is to create a stronger defence ecosystem where innovation leads the way and ideas are transformed into useful products which further strengthen the defence capabilities.
During the event, Mr Seth also launched a book on ‘SANKALP 2026: Problem statements of Indian Air Force’ in the presence of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and other senior officials. The Defence Ministry said that the event provided a platform for deliberations on the Indian Air Force and indigenisation priorities, sustainment requirements and technological advancements.
