16th Finance Commission Team Led by Arvind Panagariya on 3-day visit to Bihar

Bihar government today made a presentation before the 16th Finance Commission regarding the growing financial needs of the state. CM Nitish Kumar, expressed his views during the meeting with the team of the finance commission led by its Chairman Arvind Panagariya.

 

Mr. Kumar submitted that expenditure on development of the state has risen manifold so the financial needs increased hand in hand. Mr Kumar expressed hope that the Finance Panel will consider the needs of the state in a sympathetic way. During the presentation, the Chief Minister also expressed gratitude towards the Centre for the special financial assistance announced in the 2024 and 2025 Union Budget for Bihar.

 

A team of the 16th Finance Commission led by finance panel Chairman, Arvind Panagariya, is on a three-day visit to Bihar.

 

This is the first visit of the Finance Commission to Bihar after Mr Panagariya took charge as the Chairman of the Commission. The team reached Patna yesterday. The Commission, which has the mandate to decide the share of states in the evolution of Central taxes, will also visit Madhubani and some other areas to take feedback from people, elected representatives and officials. The team will also get first-hand experience from the field about the implementation of government schemes like Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan.
