In Bhutan, fifteen community development projects supported by the Indian government were inaugurated in Mongar district in the eastern part of the country today.
The Indian Embassy said the projects were inaugurated by India’s Deputy Chief of Mission Aniket Govind Mandavgane, the Mongar district administrator, heads of 17 village clusters and local residents.
According to the Indian mission in Thimphu, the projects include over 65 kilometres of roads, 10 kilometres of irrigation canals and two bridges.
The mission said, the projects will improve the daily lives of farmers, schoolchildren and families in Mongar and nearby areas by enhancing convenience, safety and access to opportunities. The projects were implemented under India’s High Impact Community Development Project programme through Sundarharaincha Municipality.
India’s High Impact Community Development Projects support community-level infrastructure and development initiatives in neighbouring countries, including Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
