Today is the 147th birth anniversary of E.V.Ramasamy called Thanthai Periyar, the founder of the Self-Respect Movement. Chief Minister C.Joseph Vijay, in his social media message, said that this is a day when we celebrate self-respect, social justice and equality.

Tamil Nadu Speaker JCD Prabhakar and State Ministers paid floral tributes to the statue of Periyar situated at Mount Road in Chennai. Chief Minister Vijay will administer the pledge at the Secretariat today.
