The 135th edition of the Durand Cup will begin in Shillong today. The city will host the Group E matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Shillong is all set to host the Group E matches of the 135th edition of Durand Cup today. The Group features three football clubs from Meghalaya namely the Shillong Lajong, Nongkseh Sports, Social & Cultural Club and the Langsning Football Club, making the competition even more exciting for local football fans. The Mumbay Football Club is also part of the Group E matches.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will attend the opening ceremony which is slated for this afternoon. A series of performances including one by the military band has been lined up for the cultural programme. Additionally, the Indian Armed Forces have set up a display of weapons and equipment, which will remain open to the general public from 10 AM to 7 PM at the Polo Ground here today. The display will again be open to public on the 3rd of August.
