On the occasion of Independence Day, 124 eligible prisoners in Madhya Pradesh will get a reduction in their sentences. Of these, 118 prisoners serving life sentences will be released early. Six other eligible prisoners will get special remission. The benefit will be given based on good conduct, disciplined behaviour and the prescribed rules. The government said this step will encourage other prisoners to maintain good behaviour. It will also give released prisoners an opportunity to return to the mainstream of society.
