A total of 11 people have lost their lives and 11 others have been injured in five separate accidents reported across Uttarakhand during the past 36 hours.
Our correspondent reports that three people were killed and five others injured when a car plunged into a deep gorge in the Rudraprayag district this afternoon. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said that eight people were travelling in the vehicle.
In another incident, a van met with an accident near Lwani village in Chamoli district this morning. Three of the six occupants died on the spot, while the remaining three sustained injuries. After receiving primary treatment, the injured were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for further medical care.
Two people were killed yesterday in the Almora district when a tractor fell into a deep gorge.
In Uttarkashi district, two persons lost their lives and three others were injured in a car accident near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway yesterday. Police said five people were travelling in the vehicle.
In a separate incident, a woman drowned while taking a bath at the Ganga ghat in Gangotri Dham.
