In Tennis, India’s Yuki Bhambri and his Portuguese partner Nuno Borges have advanced to the Men’s Doubles quarterfinal of the Miami Open this morning. Bhambri and Borges defeated Adam Pavlásek of Czechia and Jamie Murray of the United Kingdom, 7-6, 6-2, in the pre-quarterfinals. The Indian – Portuguese duo will next take on the United Kingdom pair of Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash in the quarterfinal tomorrow.
The 32-year-old Bhambri is set to become India’s top-ranked doubles player in the ATP rankings at the end of the Miami Open. Bhambri and Borges on Sunday defeated India’s veteran player Rohan Bopanna and Croatia’s Ivan Dodig in the round of 32. The victory moved Bhambri up to 29th in the live ATP doubles rankings, while the 45-year-old Bopanna dropped to 43rd.
