Yug Yugeen Bharat Museum would showcase journey of country: Culture Minister

Union Minister for Culture  Gajendra Singh Shekhawat asserted that the Yug Yugeen Bharat Museum would showcase the journey of the country. The new National Museum of India will come up at North and South Block as part of the Central Vista Redevelopment project that seeks to revamp India’s central administrative area located near Raisina Hill in New Delhi. The museum will be spread over 1 lakh 54 thousand square metre area, making it the largest museum in the world.

 

The Museum will be developed in collaboration with France. Attending the last day of the Indo-French collaborative capacity building workshop on the Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum, held at Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi, Mr. Shekhawat said that the museum would stand as a testament to India’s rich heritage and it’s unwavering spirit of progress. He said that it would transcend the traditional museum experience, embodying the spirit of inclusivity. Mr Shekhawat added that it would be a museum of the people, by the people and for the people.

 

Addressing the event, Secretary in the Ministry of Culture Govind Mohan said that the museum would showcase India’s rich art, culture and heritage. He hoped that the upcoming museum would inspire the generations to come.

 

AIR correspondent reports that the four day intensive brainstorming session and workshops which was held at Bharat Mandapam,  provided invaluable insights into the core operational elements of a world-class museum. These sessions focused on critical areas such as collection management, curatorial practices, administrative best practices, and the strategic integration of technology.
