YSRCP Supports Budget’s Vision, CPI and RJD Raise Issues on Federalism and Unemployment

The Rajya Sabha today resumed discussion on the General Budget 2024-25. Participating in the discussion, S. Niranjan Reddy of YSRCP lauded the Budget saying the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken medium and long-term views in the Budget instead of short-term populist views. He said the country’s growth looks well poised. He said there is a need to address the issue of raising inequalities. CPI member P Santhosh Kumar alleged that the budget is anti-people and anti-federal. He questioned the Budget saying the states should get their due in it. The CPI leader demanded that a dedicated farmers’ Budget should be brought, alleging that the allocation for the agriculture sector has been decreased continuously. He also questioned the Centre on the issue of Minimum Support Price to farmers for their produce. A D Singh of RJD raised the issue of unemployment in the country. He said the agriculture sector has not been given proper attention in the General Budget.

The discussion is underway.
