Yellow alert issued in UP till 16th September with warnings of heavy rains, thunderstorms, lighting and squall

In Uttar Pradesh, normal life was disrupted due to continuous rains in various parts of the state since last few days. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in the state till 16th September with warnings of heavy rains, thunderstorms, lighting and squall.  

In the last 48 hours, 7 districts have recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall. Districts of Barabanki and Bahraich recorded more than 250 mm of rainfall. Lakhimpur Kheri, Shravasti, Bahraich, Sitapur, Gonda and Barabanki are on red alert while Lucknow, Hardoi, Basti, and Siddharthnagar are on orange alert today. No breach in embankments has been reported from anywhere in the state.  

Teams of State administration and municipal authorities have been deployed for disaster relief operations. River Sharda in Palia Kalan is showing an increasing trend and is flowing 0.5 m above the danger mark. While river Ramganga in Moradabad and river Sone are also showing an increasing trend. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed to provide relief to the affected people.  Also, instructions have been given to immediately distribute the permissible relief amount to the people affected by the disaster. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolence over the loss of lives due to excessive rainfall, lightning and drowning in the state. He has also directed the authorities to assess the damage caused to the crops and send a report in this regard to the state government.
