World Cerebral Palsy Day is being observed globally to raise awareness about the condition and promote inclusivity. This day aims to challenge stereotypes and work towards creating an inclusive society where individuals with cerebral palsy are respected for their identities and talents. The theme for this year is Uniquely CP, which emphasizes that a person’s disability does not define their entire identity.
To mark this day, various national institutes and regional centres under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) will host programs across the nation to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and empower those affected by it. These programmes will not only highlight the struggles of individuals living with cerebral palsy, but also celebrate their abilities, talents, and the uniqueness that transcends the challenges they face. Through the Uniquely CP theme, the day will convey a powerful message to society that individuals with cerebral palsy can achieve their goals in life with their distinct capabilities and strengths.
