The minister for Labour and Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has informed us that there is an increasing trend in employment over the years in the country. The information provided in Lok Sabha today during the question hour says that the worker population ratio indicating employment for youth between the age group of 15 and 29 has improved. The details given say that the Worker Population Ratio was a little over 36 percent in 2020-21 which increased to 41.7 percent in 2023-24.
The introduction of the PM Employment Generation Programme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Rural Self Employment and Training Livelihood Mission, and PM Mudra Yojana has generated employment in various sectors in the country. The worker-population ratio is the difference between the total number of workers in a country and the population in the country.
