Women’s Cricket: India wins by 4 runs in 2nd of three-match ODI series between India & South Africa in Bengaluru

In women’s Cricket, India wins by 4 runs in the second of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa, at the M. Chinnaswami Stadium in Bengaluru.

India gave a massive target of 326 runs for South Africa. Vice Captain Smriti Mandhana scored 136 runs off 120 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 103 runs, setting a competitive total for South Africa to chase.

South Africa lost three wickets in the mammoth chase early with Arundhati Reddy, Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana striking. However, Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp hit centuries to revive the chase with a long standing 4th wicket partnership. In the last over, with 6 runs to chase Pooja Vastrakar took two crucial wickets thus shaking the momentum for South Africa. Despite an excellent knock by skipper Wolvaardt, South Africa failed to level the wins.

India now has a lead 2-0 in a three match series  between the two.
