Will not allow any internal or external forces to derail election process in J&K: CEC Rajiv Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar today said that the Election Commission is committed to conducting polls in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest and will not allow any internal or external forces to derail the electoral process. Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Mr. Kumar stated that all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are in favour of holding assembly elections, and the Election Commission is dedicated to conducting polls as soon as possible. The Election Commission held consultations with the Chief Secretary and the Police Chief of Jammu and Kashmir to review preparedness for the assembly polls. An Election Commission delegation led by the Chief Election Commissioner is on a three-day visit to the Union Territory. On the second day of their visit, the EC delegation, comprising Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and S.S. Sandhu, reviewed the preparedness of the administration and security agencies for the polls.
