Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President, P.T. Usha has expressed distress over wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the final of the 50-kilogram women’s wrestling competition at the Paris Olympics today. IOA President said, the Wrestling Federation of India has filed an appeal to United World Wrestling to reconsider the decision of disqualification. She added, that IOA is following the matter in the strongest possible manner. Ms. Usha also said that the Government is providing all necessary support to the wrestler Phogat.

India’s Chief Medical Officer at the Paris Olympics, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala said that Vinesh was found 100 Grams over her 50-kilogram weight category. Dr Pardiwala stated, that all possible measures were taken to initiate the normal process of weight cut.
