West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya today presented the budget in the State Assembly. According to the budget statement, West Bengal’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) crossed 18 lakh crore rupees. The budget has a revenue deficit of 35314 crore rupees.
1500 crore rupees have been proposed under the Pathashree scheme for the development of roads. 500 crore rupees have been allocated for the 4.75-kilometre-long Gangasagar bridge.
A new scheme, Nadi Bandhan, has been announced for the people residing beside the river areas. 200 crore rupees have been allocated to prevent riverbank erosion. ASHA and Anganwadi workers will be provided mobile phones for which Rs 200 crore has been allocated.
The Bharatiya Janata Party criticized the budget, saying there is no provision for employment in it.
