The weeklong Special Lok Adalat organised by the Supreme Court concluded on Saturday. The Lok Adalat which commenced on 29th of July continued till today. This initiative aims to provide justice to citizens in the simplest and quickest manner possible. The Supreme Court took this initiative to amicably settle long-pending disputes as a part of its 75th anniversary celebrations. The Lok Adalats offer accessible and efficient justice, which is swift and cost-effective.
Addressing the function on the last day of the Special Lok Adalat, Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said, more than one thousand cases were resolved in this Lok Adalat. He said that cases related to civil, land acquisition and Matrimonial were resolved in this Lok Adalat. Mr Meghwal said that Indian culture has a tradition of resolution through mediation.
On the occasion, Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said that the purpose of Lok Adalat has been to take the justice to the doorstep of people.
