Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Amit Agrawal today inaugurated Jan Aushadhi Kendra Model at Dilli Haat in New Delhi to spread awareness about Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna. An interactive session was conducted with the people visiting Dilli Haat to enlighten them about the high-quality affordable medicines which are being sold through Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Our correspondent reports that at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 7th of March is celebrated every year as Jan Aushadhi Diwas. This year, week-long events have been planned at various locations across the country from today to the 7th of March. Fifteen thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country. The product basket of Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna comprises 2047 drugs and 300 surgical equipments which are sold at retail shops at 50 to 80 percent cheaper than branded medicines.

Jan Aushadhi Jan Chetna Saptah was started in Haryana, Chandigarh, and will be celebrated till March 7. This year’s theme of Jan Aushadhi Jan Chetna Saptah is “Jan Aushadhi Sasti Bhi Achhi Bhi”. During this week, people are being made aware about the medicines available through Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
