The India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya during the next three days. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh today. Isolated Hailstorm has been estimated over East Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh today. The weather agency said, light rainfall is likely in various parts of West, Central and adjoining East regions of the country till 14th April.
The weather agency predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Karnataka during the next five days. The IMD said that heat wave conditions are very likely to continue at some places over West Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana during the next 4-5 days.
Meanwhile, the National capital, New Delhi, experienced dust storms last evening following a sudden change in the weather. The city received light drizzle, which brought the temperature down, offering relief to residents from the heatwave over the past few days. Traffic was disrupted as trees fell in various parts of the city. Flight operations were also impacted, with a total of 15 flights diverted and several others delayed at Delhi airport due to dust storms and gusty winds.
