Water Crisis Continues in Delhi Despite Rain; Atishi’s Hunger Strike Suspended

Despite rain in parts of Delhi during the past few days, several regions of the national capital continue to face the brunt of the ongoing water crisis. The affected areas include Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Okhla, Geeta Colony, Vasant Vihar, Patel Nagar, Sanjay Colony, Mehrauli, Vikas Puri, Moti Nagar, Chhatarpur, Sanjay Colony, Vasant Kunj, Chanakyapuri, Krishna Nagar, and Narela, amongst others. Meanwhile, the political landscape in Delhi is charged with finding the solution and responsibility for the water crisis.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi’s indefinite hunger strike has been suspended today after she was hospitalised at the Lok Nayak Hospital after her blood sugar level dropped. Addressing a press conference on this issue, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the party will keep on raising this issue despite Mrs Atishi’s hospitalisation. He informed me that AAP will write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to draw his attention and demand more water. Mr Singh added that they will raise the issue in Parliament along with all the opposition parties to get Delhi its rightful share of water.

Meanwhile, the BJP has hit back at the Delhi government and alleged that Mrs Atishi’s Satyagraha was bound to fail as it was based on lies. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva blamed the AAP-run government for using the hunger strike as a ruse to shy away from its responsibilities. He added that the strike was used to fulfil personal interests, save the scamsters, and continue corruption.
