Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said today that the Waqf Amendment Bill does not seek to confiscate anyone’s property. He added that it is intended to give justice. While speaking to the media outside Parliament, Mr. Joshi accused the opposition of misleading the people on the Bill.
The Minister also criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for reportedly raising taxes in the state. He alleged that the Karnataka government is putting a burden on the people by raising taxes like garbage tax and road tax.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Ujjwal Raman said that an elaborate discussion must be held on the Waqf Amendment Bill, and it should not be passed in haste.
