VP Jagdeep Dhankhar addresses foundation day programme of NHRC in New Delhi

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has said that Human rights has always been in the moral fabric of India. Addressing the foundation day programme of National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi today, Mr Dhankhar said, the Indian constitution is the North Star for human rights. He said, the Preamble of the Constitution, seeking justice, liberty, equality to all citizens, is the essence of human rights. The Vice President said, discrimination in any form is challenging to core aspects of human rights. He said, Human rights are best secured and nurtured with public response. Mr Dhankhar added that there can be no greater custodian of human rights than the public at large. He said, people need to stand firm when violations occur. The Vice President said, to respect others’ human rights is to respect one’s own human rights. He added that to respect others’ human rights is a divine duty.

 

Acting Chairperson of NHRC Vijaya Bharati Sayani and Secretary General Bharat Lal also addressed the foundation day event.
