To increase voter participation for the upcoming Legislative Assembly Election, Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Office launched a State-Level Voter Awareness Program from Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India today. The campaign was kicked off in the presence of Deputy Election Commissioner Hirdesh Kumar and Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra, S. Chockalingam among various other dignitaries like Rohit Shetty, Ajinkya Rahane and transgender activist Gauri Sawant.
As part of this extensive awareness initiative, a Voter Awareness Van, arranged by Pune Regional Office of Central Bureau of Communication, will travel across 15 districts, covering 133 constituencies, especially areas with historically low voter turnout. The van will distribute crucial information regarding voting procedures, polling station locations, the model code of conduct, and details on how to file complaints for any violations.
To further engage the public, the folk artists will hold cultural performances, spreading the message of voting through traditional art forms.
