Vivek Sahay IPS, has been appointed as new DGP & IGP of West Bengal Police after Election Commission of India removed Rajeev Kumar from the post. Rajeev Kumar has been transferred to Information Technology and Electronics Department as OSD in the rank of Additional Secretary.

Earlier, as per order given by ECI, a panel of three senior IPS officers was submitted to ECI. Apart from Vivek Sahay, Sanjay Mukherjee, IPS and Dr Rajesh Kumar, IPS were in the panel.

Rajeev Kumar was appointed as DGP & IGP of state police in December after the then DGP Manoj Malviya retired from the post.
