In the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, along with devotion, faith and spirituality, great emphasis is also being laid on education. As part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative, schools named Vidya Kumbh have been established in every sector of the fair area.

Akashvani’s Correspondent reports that students up to class five are being provided free education along with other facilities:

The children of workers who have come to work in Mahakumbh from different parts of the country study in Vidya Kumbh. Through these mobile schools, children are being provided education without any compromise to their academic growth during the Maha Kumbh. Apart from bags, dresses and shoes, all essential stationary items are provided free of cost to the students. These schools also have smart classes for children, which is a novel experience for many.

Talking to Akashvani News, the Headmaster of Vidya Kumbh in Sector-2 of the Mahakumbh Mela Area, Dilip Kumar Mishra, said that after witnessing the enthusiasm of children and record attendance, Vidya Kumbh was expanded from a single school to one in every sector of the Mahakumbh. He highlighted that Vidya Kumbh has also reduced the practice of begging, which was once prominent amongst these children and has provided a safe and secure environment for them.

One of the teachers at the Vidya Kumbh, Dr Sangeeta told Akashvani News that the school also focuses on the empowerment of girls.

The students studying in Kumbh Vidya also shared their experiences with Akashvani News.

Vidya Kumbh, along with providing education to children, also ensures their safety in grand events like Maha Kumbh so that parents can go to work without worry.
