Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that commercialization of education is adversely impacting the quality of education.
Mr. Dhankhar was speaking at a function of a private educational institution in Rajasthan’s Sikar this afternoon. He said that education becoming a business is never good for the future of the nation. He said that education was never a source of income, but was a medium of sacrifice, medium for charity and for building a healthy society.
Mr. Dhankhar rued that today education has become a ‘commodity’ which is being sold for profit and this is adversely impacting the quality of education.
Vice president said that industries are the biggest beneficiaries of research and innovations, which gives power to the nation in front of the world. Mr. Dhankhar said that foreign invaders destroyed the centers of knowledge in ancient India and Indian education institutions were dismantled under British rule.
He said that students want to go abroad for education but there are many opportunities in India and institutions and industry leaders should make them aware about it. He said that this will stop brain drain and loss of foreign exchange. The vice president also praised the national education policy, calling it a game changer.
