The Vice Chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at Pookode in Wayanad district, Dr P C Saseendran has resigned. In his resignation letter submitted to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan yesterday,  Dr Saseendran cited personal reasons for stepping down.

Hours before he tendered his resignation, the Vice-Chancellor reinstated 33 students who were suspended earlier in connection with the death of Siddarthan, a second year student of the University last month, who was brutally assaulted by a group of students. Reports said, the Governor intervened and cancelled the Vice Chancellor’s order.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who is also the Chancellor of the Universities in the state, had appointed Dr P C Saseendran  as Vice Chancellor of the University early this month. Dr Saseendran replaced the then Vice Chancellor Dr M R Saseendranath who was suspended by the Governor for gross dereliction of duty during the developments that led to the death of Siddharthan.
