A Varanasi court in Uttar Pradesh has rejected a plea filed by petitioners seeking additional survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) of the entire premises of the Gyanvapi complex.

Civil Judge (Senior Division) of Varanasi Fast Track Court, Yugal Sharma dismissed the plea which was filed in February this year. The plea sought survey of areas not previously examined by the ASI.

The fast track court had reserved its order on the matter on 16th October, following the completion of arguments. Yesterday after the decision of the fast track court, the lawyer of the petitioners, Madan Mohan Yadav said, they will approach High Court in the matter.

The Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee had opposed the plea.
