Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday (12th July 2024) said that as a result of affirmative governance steps, a sea change has occurred in the country, particularly for the benefit of the youth. Mr. Dhankhar was addressing the faculty and students of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Mumbai. The Vice-President delivered the keynote address in a discussion titled ‘Empowering India: The Role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Making Viksit Bharat 2047’.
The Vice President said that now the decision making in our country is inspired by a transparent accountable mechanism. He added that as a result of these decisions we have witnessed an exponential growth in our economy. He said that the size of our economy in 1990 did not match the economies of cities of London and Paris and now it is ahead of the economies of the UK and France. He noted that the World Bank has hailed Bharat as a hot global favourite destination for investment and opportunities. He highlighted that the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) had applauded our digitisation as a role model for other nations.
Addressing the students, Mr. Dhankhar highlighted key areas where higher education institutions can make significant contributions to Viksit Bharat. Outlining the key areas, he said that Technology and Digital Transformation, Sustainable Development, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Agriculture and Food Security, Social Sciences and Humanities, Skill Development and Vocational Training and Entrepreneurship and Innovation can fast track our journey towards Viksit Bharat.
Governor of Maharashtra, Ramesh Bais, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Praful Patel and others were present at the event.
