Uttarakhand:  Relief and rescue operations underway after waterlogging in Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar districts 

Relief and rescue operations are underway after waterlogging in Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand. Some places in these two districts were waterlogged due to heavy rains late last night. 
 
 

In Purnagiri tehsil of Champawat district, more than 150 families have been shifted to safer places by the State Disaster Response Force and Police Force with the help of the local administration. At the same time, after waterlogging at more than 25 places in Khatima and Sitarganj tehsils of Udham Singh Nagar district, NDRF, SDRF, Police, Water Police team and Tehsil administration jointly conducted relief and rescue operations. About 150 people have been rescued from Gilhari Chakarpur village and taken to safer places. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will conduct an aerial survey and ground inspection of the flood-affected areas tomorrow morning. Earlier today, the Chief Minister held a video conference and directed the Kumaon Commissioner, District Magistrates of Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar and other concerned officials to carry out relief and rescue operations with better coordination.

 

SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra said that rescue operations have been going on in some areas of Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar since last night, after SDRF and NDRF, now the army is also helping. About 200 to 250 people have been rescued.

 

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at some places in the state tomorrow.
