Uttarakhand: Orange alert issued after continuous rainfall, fresh snowfall

Uttarakhand is experiencing a drop in temperature following continuous rainfall in the plains and fresh snowfall in the hill regions.

Our correspondent reports that the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain and snowfall in several parts of the state today. Since last night, persistent rainfall has lashed various parts of the state, while higher altitudes, including the Char Dham areas, have been blanketed with fresh snow. This has led to a significant decline in temperature, intensifying the winter chill. The weather department has predicted that rainfall will continue throughout the day, with heavy snowfall expected in the upper regions of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar. Meanwhile, the Met Department also issued an alert of heavy rain and possible hailstorms for Dehradun and other parts of the state.
