US stocks ended with slim gains in a holiday-shortened session yesterday, helped by a surge in Tesla and strength in bank shares. Trading volumes were lighter than average as the stock market closed at 1 p.m. ahead of the July 4th Independence Day holiday today.

Dow Jones Industrial Average ended in green but almost flat, S&P 500 added 0.1 percent and Nasdaq Composite rose 0.2 percent.
