US stocks ended higher yesterday after inflation and economic data sparked hopes that the Federal Reserve may go for fewer interest rate hikes.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.2 percent, the S&P 500 index gained 0.7 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3 percent.
