US President-elect Trump appoints Musk, Ramaswamy to lead DOGE

US President-elect Donald Trump has begun filling key positions in his incoming cabinet and adding new roles to his administration since he won the race to the White House. These team members are expected to have a direct impact on implementing the US President-elect’s policies in his second term. Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Mr. Trump said in a statement that Musk and Ramaswamy will work from outside the government to offer the White House advice and guidance, and will partner with the Office of Management and Budget to drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.

Mr Trump has selected Army veteran and TV personality Pete Hegseth as his Defense Secretary. Hegseth served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been with a cable news giant since 2014. Republican Congressman Mike Waltz, who has been co-chair of the India Caucus in the House of Representatives, has been selected as the next National Security Advisor. Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe will serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan will serve as the border czar in the new administration. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik will be the US Ambassador to the United Nations. Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee has been picked to be the United States Ambassador to Israel. William McGinley will return to the White House to serve as Donald Trump’s White House Counsel. Mr. Trump announced that his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, will be named his White House Chief of Staff. Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin will serve as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

US President-elect Donald Trump won the 2024 Presidential election in a historic comeback, defying assassination attempts, criminal convictions, and a change in political opponents. He will become the 47th President of the United States at an inauguration ceremony at the US Capitol on January 20th, next year.
