On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a Good Governance Day function was organised at Lok Bhavan, Lucknow. On this occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to Vajpayee’s statue and remembered his life and works.
Addressing the programme, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Atal ji gave good governance to India, which took the country to new heights. During his government, the growth rate reached 8.4 percent, which was a historic achievement in independent India. He praised Atal ji’s leadership, saying his governance was praised all over the world.
The defence minister clarified the definition of good governance and said that good governance is one where every person’s needs are met, the common man feels safe, and he has an opportunity to speak his mind. This was the former Prime Minister’s vision, which is being taken forward by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised that a sense of security is crucial for effective governance, and to achieve good governance, it requires active public participation. He added that a sense of security begins within the home. When individuals feel safe at home, it naturally fosters a sense of security within the community.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also unveiled the statue of Atal Ji at Kudiya Ghat, situated along the banks of the Gomti River in Lucknow. The leaders also honoured the sculptor, Amarpal Singh, for his remarkable work.
