Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Aadityanath today in Lucknow while speaking to the media said that Agniveers will be given weightage in recruitment for Uttar Pradesh Police and UP Provincial Armed Constabulary force. Appreciating the Agniveer scheme, the Chief Minister said that the nation will get trained and disciplined soldiers in the form of Agniveers for its service. He said that the youth of this country are joining as Agniveers with enthusiasm. The government is also facilitating their entry into para-military and civil police forces when they return after serving in the military. UP government will also facilitate such recruitment.
He also emphasized that in the past 10 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has undergone transformative reforms, especially in the defence sector where India is on its path to achieving Aatmanirbharta. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to attend a meeting of Niti Aayog tomorrow in New Delhi.
Madhya Pradesh government also announced reservations for Agniveers in the state police department. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay diwas, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced in a video message that the Madhya Pradesh govt will give reservation to Agniveers in the recruitment of the Police department.
The Odisha government has decided to reserve 10 per cent reservation in police and all other uniform services recruitment under it for the Agneevirs. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told media persons today that his government has also decided to relax 5 years of age in the upper age limit for the Agneevirs. Mr Majhi said, Agniveer is a revolutionary scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all should feel proud for being a part of the Indian armed forces. Agniveers are jawans selected for four years under a short-term recruitment scheme called Agnipath, which was rolled out by the Union government to enable a youthful profile for the country’s armed forces.
